Arthur is an evangelical
facilitator of the world's oldest religion--the beat of the drum. With more
gentle gestures than words he guides fifty drummers at a time, dividing it
into dichotomies: Does the dance do the drumming or the drumming do the dancing?
The answer is yes. It's half listening, half playing, and when you're doing
which is up to you. The only time I've seen anything like it was when David
Amram divided an auditorium into three distinctly clapping sections and in
those moments it's see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil but your eyes
are open, you're listening, and your every breath becomes a song. |
