Dune: Part One (2021) & Part Two (2024)

If you’ve been living on a desert planet, Dune is the current moment’s epic space opera featuring warring kingdoms, flawed heroes, hideous villains, religious fanatics, and enormous sandworms with magical psychedelic blood. It’s also a towering cinematic achievement. There are plenty of arguments to be had about the politics, especially the troublesome white-savior-rescues-the-desert-people business. But the art direction is absolutely staggering, the sound design is thrilling, and we’re going to turn the speakers up way loud in order to get completely lost in it all. The politics can wait until after the film.

We’re showing Dune: Part One (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024) back-to-back so you can catch up before Dune: Part Three (dropping nationwide December 18, 2026). Hosted by Josh O.
